Matchday 26

4:4 in Duisburg

A tragic incident put the sport on the backburner on Wednesday evening as 1. FC Köln played MSV Duisburg. Dieter Anfang, the father of FC head coach, Markus, suffered a heart attack during the game. Markus Anfang was informed shortly after full-time of the incident and went directly to his father.

The game ended 4:4, in what was a true spectacle. Despite being behind twice in the first half, FC battled back to lead 2:4 before MSV struck twice late on to earn a share of the spoils.

The game was delayed by 15 minutes due to the traffic problems surrounding the ground. In the second minute, Moritz Stoppelkamp gave the hosts the lead. Jhon Cordoba then brought FC level midway through the first half, following some superb play for Louis Schaub. However, Duisburg went ahead again as Lukas Fröde lashed home five minutes later.

Three goals in seven minutes

After the break, FC managed to turn on the style. Schaub made the post of some tidy hold-up play from Simon Terodde to level the scores, before Jhon Cordoba headed home and Simon Terodde then lifted the ball into the back of the MSV net to cap off a crazy seven minute spell. However, MSV battled back as Stoppelkamp scored his second and Kevin Wolze fired home a free-kick.
