Press conference before Regensburg

Anfang: „A difficult but do-able task“

On Friday evening, 1. FC Köln head to the Continental Arena to face SSV Jahn Regensburg. Before the game, Markus Anfang sat down with the press and discussed the three-game winning streak, the current squad situation and the upcoming opponent.

On Wednesday, Markus Anfang spoke at Geißbockheim about…

…the squad situation: “Louis Schaub didn’t train today. After the last game, he still has problems with his adductor and groin. He tried to up the intensity on Tuesday, but it didn’t work out. The possibility that he can train on Thursday is low. With Marco Höger it’s the same. He has problems with a scar from a previous injury. It’s not a big thing but because we’re playing on Friday, it could be an issue. Benno Schmitz took a knock on Tuesday. He also didn’t train today and we’ve got to see how he is tomorrow. We have enough options to cover in these positions and we’ll think about it, if we have to change things up. We’ve gone through it in training.”

…the three previous wins:
“We have managed to score goals that the right time and have achieved good results as a consequence. I hope that we keep that up. After some positive results, you tend to put yourself in the comfort zone and think you know how things will go. We’ve pointed that danger out to the boys. We’ve got to keeps things going as they have been.”

…SSV Jahn Regensburg:
“We’ve got to face a team, who haven’t lost in their last 10 games. They play aggressively and are good when it comes to Gegenpressing. Regensburg are tough to play against. They’ve grown as a team. They have turned games on their head. It’s a team that don’t give up. The game will be a difficult task, but also a doable one.”

…Anthony Modeste: “The situation hasn’t changed. Tony still hasn’t been given the all-clear to play. He’s training with the team and doing very well. He’s professional and he wants to play. So long as that doesn’t happen, then he’ll use the time well in training.”
