Four goals in 15 minutes

Cologne score eight against Dresden

After an outstanding second half, the 1. FC Cologne beats Dynamo Dresden with 8-1 (2-0). Across the entire 90 minutes, the FC left no doubt about the home win.

FC head coach Markus Anfang made two changes in the FC starting formation compared to the game in Hamburg: Benno Schmitz and Jhon Cordoba replaced Salih Oezcan and Serhou Guirassy.

Furious start

The 1. FC Cologne took immediately the initiative of the game and went in front with the first opportunity of the match. Dominick Drexler crossed the ball from the right-hand baseline to the center where Jhon Cordoba headed the ball brilliantly into the net. Following the early lead, the FC controlled the events and disturbed Dresden early in the build-up. The guests came in the first half only through set pieces to some danger. The first one came from a Hartmann header (16’), on the other end it was again Cordoba with the chance, but his effort was too inaccurate.

Until the half-time, the FC defensive did not allow any further dangerous situation, while the FC came again dangerously close five minutes before the break. Again, a very active Jhon Cordoba took the effort inside the penalty area, but Dynamo goalkeeper Schubert did somehow steer the ball over the crossbar. Two minutes later, Louis Schaub dribbled well, entered the penalty box, but was blocked. The rebound came to Simon Terodde, who turned quickly and scored in his style for the 2-0 intermission lead.

Second half offensive spectacle from FC

Similar to the first half, the FC was wide awake right away at the beginning of the second half. This time it only took 18 seconds for the ball to wriggle in the net. A superb run by Schaub, the pass into the middle, where Simon Terodde increased the lead to 3-0. It was the starting signal for a memorable 1.FC Cologne second half. In the 51st minute Jhon Cordoba controlled and prevailed the ball after a long ball from Marcel Risse and scored his second goal of the match. Just seven minutes later, captain Jonas Hector also entered the scoresheet, after another superb assist from Louis Schaub's. He scored from 12-meter to increase the lead. After one hours on the clock, Simon Terodde tied his hattrick, after converting a spot-on Hector cross – 6-0.

After this superb start into the second half, the FC took a short break and Dresden substitute Atik used this opportunity to get a consolation goal, a worth seeing by scissor ick goal to change the score to 6-1. The FC changed pace right away scored probably the most beautiful goal this afternoon through Louis Schaub. Substitute Niklas Hauptmann passed nicely to the Austrian, who curled the ball from the right-hand corner of the penalty into the top left corner of Dynamo Dresden – what a brilliant goal. And it was not the end for Dresden goalkeeper Schubert misery, as he had to grab the ball out of the net again, after a Risse free-kick found the head of Jonas Hector, who scored the 8-1 – also the second goal of the match for the FC captain. That was the end of an outstanding second half, which the FC fans are likely not to forget very soon.
