Cordoba is Man of the Match

1. FC Köln returned to second place in the 2. Bundesliga, thanks to a strong performance against FC St. Pauli. During the 4:1 home win, Jhon Cordoba's popularity with the fans was evident after a hat-trick.

A very good team performance and a goal-filled second half helped 1. FC Köln to a 4:1 home win against FC St. Pauli. In the vote for Man of the Match, Jhon Cordoba was deservedly crowned the winner. Also nominated were midfield duo, Johannes Geis and Christian Clemens. The FC fans were able to vote for their Man of the Match after the first home game of the year across the digital channels.

Jhon Cordoba: With three goals, the striker played a huge part in the 4:1 home win. He was also more than keen to get involved in tackles, making penetrating runs and managed to tally up the fastest speed of all players on the pitch.

Johannes Geis: The new signing was key in his home debut for FC, impressing across the board with his general play. It was his passing, however, that stood out. Geis came up with the pass to set Christian Clemens free for the second goal, and set up the third goal with his free-kick.

Christian Clemens: The long pass from Johannes Geis was inch-perfect for him, and Christian Clemens returned the favour by putting the ball on a plate for Jhon Cordoba to sweep him in the 52nd minute. Clemens managed to place second best in the FC side when it came to sprints (27) and pass success (91%).

The 1. FC Köln fans were in agreement across their voting. Be it Twitter, Facebook or in the FC live ticker, Jhon Cordoba earned an overwhelming majority of the vote and was named Man of the Match.
