Genessee Daughetee is the fourth new arrival for FC Frauen. She joins Lotta Cordes, Andrea Gavric and Sarah Puntigam as the confirmed fresh faces at Geißbockheim next season. Daughetee was last with Dijon FCO in the Division 1 Féminin and made 18 appearances and registered one assist for the club. After the season, in summer 2021, the Huntington Beach born wide-player decided on a career break. Now she is ready to return to the pitch with FC.
Daughetee arrived in Europe in the summer of 2014, where she left the California Golden Bears to join Montpellier HSC. She featured 19 times for MHSC before heading to Sweden and Vittjsö GIK. In the Damallsvenskan, she scored her first professional goal in the 3:1 win against Kvarnsvedens IK on her debut. Afzer her time in Sweden, she returned to the USA with LA Galaxy Orange County before making the move to France and Dijon.
FC head coach, Sascha Glass said: “Genessee is able to play at wing-back on both flanks. She made a very motivated and clear impression in our discussions. She is very athletic, is strong in the tackle and has international experience. We are pleased that she is ready and raring to go after her break.”
Genessee Daughetee said: “I’m beyond excited to play for a club like 1. FC Köln. I’m extremely grateful and happy that Sascha and Nicole gave me the confidence after my decision to take time away from the game for personal reasons. I will do everything in my power to repay this confidence. After playing in France and Sweden, I’m looking forward to playing in another top European league and especially for FC, who have been continually progressing over the past few years. I’ve been training relentlessly to be prepared at the start of the season. I can’t wait to make my mark on this club and wear the FC jersey!”
