The fifth new signing for 1. FC Köln: Dimitris Limnios has joined FC from PAOK Thessaloniki. The 22-year-old winger has signed a contract until 2024. He will take part in team training on Tuesday.
“With Dimitris, we are getting a technically strong player for the wings, who is quick out wide and causes problems with his balls into the box. He has proven his quality at international level and still has plenty of potential at his young age,” said FC managing director, Horst Heldt.
“I'm pleased to finally be here. After the positive Corona test, I had a few worries that the transfer wouldn't come about. All of those responsible at FC took really good care of me during my quarantine. Now I'm finally here at 1. FC Köln and I'm looking forward to getting to know my new club and team-mates. FC is one of the biggest traditional clubs in Germany and have fantastic fans. Now I want to play my part in helping the club to acheive its goals,” said Dimitris Limnios.
Dimitris Limnios was born on 27th May 1998 as the son of a Greek father and Brazilian mother in the Greek port town of Volos. He began his footballing career with Niki Volos FC. In 2012, he made the move to Atromitos Athens and began to train with the first team in the following season. In October 2014, he made his debut in the Greek top flight at the age of just 16. 10 months later, he was playing his first game for the fifth-placed team in Europa League qualification. In 2016-17, he developed into a first-teamer and move to PAOK in the summer of 2017.
In Thessaloniki, Limnios won the Greek cup in his first season at the club. Just one season later, PAOK went undefeated to claim the Greek league and cup double. Overall, he has made 110 appearances in the top flight (six goals, 11 assists), 34 cup games (three goals, five assists) and 16 continental matches (two goals, one assist).
