Dominick Drexler is Player of the Month

The 1. FC Köln fans have chosen – Dominick Drexler is your Player of the Month for April.

His run of form keeps going. Dominick Drexler continued to collect goals and assists on a regular basis through April. With the 2:0 win in Heidenheim, he opened the scoring before laying on the second goal for Jhon Cordoba. The pair combined again against Duisburg, and Drexler also managed to score for FC in the Monday night game against Hamburg.

With 48.68% of the vote, the 28-year-old secured his title of Player of the Month for April. In the fan voting, he managed to come out on top against Jhon Cordoba and Jonas Hector. Drexler didn’t only win over the fans through his assists, but also his goals. In 11 of the last 12 games, Drexler had a hand in at least one goal. The exception came against Dynamo Dresden. Overall, Drexler has nine goals and 17 assists this season. Overall, only Simon Terodde (34) has more scorer-points in 2. Bundesliga this season.

After training on Thursday, Drexler received the golden goat and thanked the fans for their support: “I’m really pleased, that you’ve voted me in as Player of the Month once again. Overall, April was a tough month. The fact that you have still picked me out for my performances, despite that, spurs me on and makes me proud. I’m also pleased, that the boys and I were able to earn promotion in May. Without your support, it would not have been possible. The golden goat will always remind me of promotion. Thank you!”
