1. FC Kön and FC Schalke 04 have come to an agreement over the transfer of Dominick Drexler. The 31-year-old joins the 2. Bundesliga side, signing a two-year deal in Gelsenkirchen.

Dominick Drexler joined FC from FC Midtjylland after a successful season at Holstein Kiel, where he recorded 12 goals and 11 assists in 31 games. The Bonn-born midfielder then made a telling contribution to FC’s return to the Bundesliga, tallying nine goals and 18 assists in the 2018-19 season. In the Bundesliga, Drexler made 54 appearances for FC. He scored five goals, setting up a further six.

“Dome always played with passion for FC, in 2. Bundesliga he performed very well and played a big part in our return to the Bundesliga. He was also a good guy, who we enjoyed having in the team” said Thomas Kessler, FC Sporting Director. Kessler played with Drexler together from 2018 to 2020. “Thank you for your efforts at FC, Dome, we wish you all the best with Schalke.”

“For me, it was an honour to play for FC because the club is my emotional home. I had a great time here with promotion and my Bundesliga debut, and we managed to stay up two years in a row. We grew together as a team through those experiences. I wish FC and my team-mates the best for the new season and hope that Schalke will be playing FC in the Bundesliga next season,” said Dominick Drexler.
