Transfer to Freiburg

Dominique Heintz leaves FC for SC

Following three seasons in the FC kit, Dominique Heintz will leave 1. FC Köln for SC Freiburg.

Center-back Dominique Heintz has informed FC that he will activate his release clause in the event of relegation in order to facilitate a transfer to Bundesliga club SC Freiburg. His contract at 1. FC Köln was set to run until 2021.

FC Managing Director Armin Veh states: “We had received the signal some time ago that we would not be able to keep Heintzi with the current conditions in the event of relegation. We respect his wish to remain in the Bundesliga and wish him all the best.”

Dominique Heintz states: “I was welcomed with open arms in Cologne and felt really well here. I would like to thank my teammates, the staff, and everybody else at the club for everything they have done for me. I wish the team all the best in the upcoming season that they can achieve promotion back to the Bundesliga.”

Dominique Heintz came to 1. FC Köln in 2015 by way of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Over the course of three seasons, Heintz appeared in 108 competitive matches in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Europa League. FC would like to thank “Heintzi” for his efforts and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
