1. FC Köln have decided to part ways with head coach, Achim Beierlorzer with immediate effect. In the interim, André Pawlak and Manfred Schmid will watch over the first-team.
Frank Aehlig, FC sporting director, said: “I regret that we’ve had to take this step, because we value Achim Beierlorzer very highly. However, the hoped for sporting success hasn’t been achieved so far and it’s our job to do everything to ensure FC achieve our goals. We made this decision together with the Board and the Managing Directors, and with the approval of the Joint Committee. We’re immediately working on finding a new head coach for FC, who will give our team a new start and turn things around. Until then, the team is in good hands with André Pawlak and Manfred Schmid. Away from the developments, it is important for me to state that Achim Beierlorzer is a very competent head coach and with his open, communicative ways, as well as internally and externally, was a sympathetic person until the end. We wish him nothing but the best for the future.”
Achim Beierlorzer said, “I regret that I wasn’t able to bring FC the desired sporting success in the four months I was here. I felt completely at home at this great club. In a good working position, I was able to work with the team constructively. For the rest of the season, I wish the team and the club all the best and the hoped for success.”
Achim Beierlorzer joined 1. FC Köln in the summer from Jahn Regensburg. Along with Pawlak and Schmid, he was in charge for 13 games. 1. FC Köln would like to thank Achim Beierlorzer deeply for his work with FC.
