Nine players are away on international duty, but the players remaining in Cologne need to remain match fit as well. The group that remained in Cologne, with the exception of Sven Müller (heplayed for the U21 side on Tuesday evening), took part in a friendly match against fifth-division side TV Herkenrath on Wednesday evening. It was somewhat of a homecoming for Marco Höger, who was raised in the nearby region.
It was the hosts that took it to FC from the very start. Just 7 minutes had passed until Herkenrath took the lead following a counter attack. Sehrou Guirassy levelled the match after pouncing on a spilled shot in the box (33'), but the home side once again regained the lead just before the stroke of halftime.
In the second half it was FC that took over the match. Artjoms Rudnevs converted a penalty after Pawel Olkowski was taken down in the box (56'). In the very same minute, with the ball barely rolling after kicking off again, Jhon Cordoba struck to put FC in the lead. From there the flood gates opened as Cordoba added another, Rudnevs added two more, and Olkwoski got on the scoresheet as well. In the end it was a convincing 7:2 victory for FC against a side that fought valiantly in the first half.
