I'm really happy to be here because I feel at home with FC and in the city and our journey hasn't yet come to an end. Even when I've signed until 2024 and can well imagine to staying past that, I'm sticking on my path of planning from season to season. It is my goal to help and support FC as best possible with the long-terms goals and to develop the team and our way of playing."
FC Manging Director, Christian Keller said: "We are very happy that we were in agreement so quickly with Steffen and he has extended his contract with FC. In the past year, Steffen and the entire coaching and backroom staff have put in an incredible amount of work and took the team's level of performance to another level. Looking ahead, I want to highlight Steffen's understanding for the conditions and the way we want to go with FC. Part of that is we very knowingly extended for one year until 2024, even though we are all working towards a long-term relationship. We have been guided by a positive example which has a role model character over the years. From now on, we will sit down every year like in Freiburg and decide together whether and how we want to go into the future. At the moment and in the here and now, the excitement ahead of the season Is pushing us on. There are new and big challenges waiting for us. We want to tackle these as best we can together and continue FC's positive development."
