Head coach extends long-term

FC-Frauen: Glass extends until 2025

FC-Frauen have extended the contract of Sascha Glass for the long-term. The FC head coach has signed a new contract until summer 2025, ahead of the start of the new Bundesliga season.

FC Frauen have tied down Sascha Glass for the foreseeable future and have handed the head coach a new contract until 30th June 2025. Glass joined FC from SC Sand back in January 2020 alongside assistant coach, Mirella Junker. In the 2019-20 Rückrunde, his side almost pulled off the great escape only to be relegated on the final day due to a worse goal difference. In the past season, Glass’ team went unbeaten and picked up 46 from a possible 48 points as they secured an immediate return to the top flight.

Nicole Bender, FC-Frauen Sporting Director, said: “Sascha and his team have put in very good work over the past 18 months. Our team has made a huge step forward. We are therefore very pleased, that we will continue our path with Sascha for the long-term. Sascha works to the last detail, his passion for football sets him apart and his emotional work fits well to us here at FC. The work with one another is full of trust and together we want to establish 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga.”

Sascha Glass said: “I feel at home at FC and in Köln. With our promotion back to the Bundesliga, we put into place step one of our long-term plan and we still have a lot ahead of us. We want to ensure that Köln becomes one of Germany’s most attractive footballing locations. We feel the support of the entire club, including the Board of Directors and Managing Director. That gives us the opportunity to work professionally and to continue developing the team. It is a lot of fun working together with the coaching staff, the team itself and with Nicole Bender, who is a real asset for women’s football at FC. I am looking forward to the new season in the Bundesliga.”

Sascha Glass is 48 years old and was born in Berlin. Glass was head coach at SC Sand in the Bundesliga between July 2017 and December 2020. He was previously with 1. FFC Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg.

FC-Frauen begin their FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga campaign on Saturday 28th August at 16:00 CEST against SGS Essen at Stadion Essen.
