FC-Frauen will play in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga South division next season following relegation from the Frauen-Bundesliga. The second tier of women’s football in Germany will no longer be played in one single division as was previously the case, instead in two. Nine teams will contest the South section for promotion, while 10 teams make up the field in the North division. The champion of each will earn a place in the Frauen-Bundesliga.
Head coach, Sascha Glass said: “We want to bring women’s football at 1. FC Köln to the forefront in the coming years and are putting everything on earning promotion back to the Bundesliga. As a relegated side, we immediately belong to the promotion favourites. We want to justify this role in the new season with attacking football.”
