Training start

FC intensify test and hygiene measures

At the start of the new year and return to training, 1. FC Köln have intensified their test and hygiene measures due to the current pandemic situation.

1. FC Köln returned to training on Sunday 2nd January as the team prepare for the Rückrunde. Due to the current pandemic situation, FC have intensified their test and hygiene measures surrounding first-team training in close discussions with the local health authorities. As a result, Steffen Baumgart’s side conducted a round of PCR tests before their first coming together in the new year.

Ahead of the Winter Break, due to the increasing Corona cases, the FC players returned to a close-knit test programme. As well as the test measures, a large part of the coaching staff, the team and the backroom staff were given their booster vaccination following the Stuttgart game.

“We want to minimise the risk of infection as well as we possibly can. With that in mind, we spoke to the lads about this topic before the return to training. Just as it is for everyone else, it is about reducing our contacts, keeping our distance, wearing masks indoors,” said Thomas Kessler, Sporting Director of the first-team.

That also unfortunately means that the FC players will be unable to fulfil autograph and selfie requests before and after training at Geißbockheim.
