Move to 1. FC Nürnberg

FC loan out Jens Castrop

Jens Castrop has left 1. FC Köln on loan. The 18-year-old midfielder has moved to 2. Bundesliga side, 1. FC Nürnberg.

Jörg Jakobs, Sporting Director at FC, said: “Jens is one of our top talents and, therefore, has a good perspective for making his way into the first-team. He has done well in the last few months in training, but the most important thing is game time at a high level. In Nürnberg, he is in an environment where he has the chance to make the next step and feature in professional football.”

Jens Castrop said: “I am looking forward to the new challenge here in Nürnberg. Der Club have been playing well in 2. Bundesliga and have shown me a path to develop myself for the long-term and to gain experience in the first-team.”

Jens Castrop joined 1. FC Köln in summer 2015 and made his way through all academy teams since then. During the 2018-19 season, he was moved up to the under-17 and made 14 appearances as they were crowned German champions. This season, the German youth international featured 15 times in the Regionalliga West (two goals) and played both games for FC in the club’s first participation in the UEFA Youth League.
