Move to Holstein Kiel

FC loan out Marvin Obuz

Marvin Obuz will join Holstein Kiel on loan for the 2022-23 season. The 20-year-old winger signed a professional deal with 1. FC Köln in April 2021 which runs until 2024.

Thomas Kessler, Head of First-Team Operations, said: "With his dynamism, his attacking qualities and his drive to goal, Marvin caught the eye early on at FC. In the past year, we tied Marvin down to a long-term first-team contract because he has everything to make it in first-team football. His debut in the DFB-Pokal is a clear sign of where he can go. With the loan to Kiel, we want to give Marvin the opportunity to make the next step at a higher level to return ready and with important experience for next year. In the second division he can develop just as we imagine. Especially at Holstein Kiel who, through their brave and attacking football, have established themselves in the top half. In this way, we offer our biggest talents the chance to earn important game time between Franz-Kremer-Stadion and the RheinEnergieSTADION."

Marvin Obuz was born on 25th January 2002 in Köln and took his first footballing steps with BC Efferen before joining 1. FC Köln at the age of seven in 2009. The winger has been part of the Germany youth set-up since the under-16s and is currently part of the under-20 set-up.

In 2019, Obuz helped the under-17s to become German champions with 12 goals and one assist in 18 games. In the previous season, the Köln-born forward made 25 appearances in the Regionalliga West, scoring seven goals and setting up a further three. On 27th October 2021, he made his first-team debut in the second-round win against Stuttgart. Since the beginning of 2021, Obuz has been training with the first-team and has been part of the Bundesliga Matchday squad five times.
