FC Players visit a Children’s Hospital

Initiative of the 1. FC Köln Foundation

With the support of the 1. FC Köln foundation, the FC players visited a children’s hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The players arrived with Christmas presents and positive vibes to uplift the children and put some smiles on their faces.

With a variety of Christmas presents in hand, the FC players and the coaching staff arrived at the children’s hospital on the Amsterdamer street in Cologne on Wednesday afternoon. “This is one of the most wonderful activities we have all year. It is nice to see the kids smiling, and we hope that our presence, in whatever way, can help the kids on their road to recovery,” said goalkeeper Thomas Kessler. The seemingly incalculable amount of presents were provided by the 1. FC Köln Foundation. Whether boy, girl, young, or old, there were presents for everyone. There was even time to play board games and plenty of time to take photos to capture these wonderful moments.

“For our patients it is not just about receiving presents, but also about the meaning of the visit and the positive memories of getting to meet the 1. FC Cologne players,” said Dr. Michael Weiss.

Many radiant faces

Kiddy-Hennes was also part of the trip, and very much responsible for many of the radiant faces at the hospital. “It is nice to see these kids faces and to be able to give them some early Christmas presents.  It is also very meaningful from the perspective of the players. There are some tough moments during these visits, because it is never easy knowing that children are suffering. Nonetheless it is a visit that all of us make sure to be a part of,” said FC manager Peter Stöger.
