1. FC Köln have signed Jhon Cordoba. The forward arrives from 1. FSV Mainz 05 and has received a contract until June 30, 2021. The 24-year-old Colombian played in 51 Bundesliga matches for Mainz over two seasons. He also featured in six matches in the UEFA Europa League. Prior stations for him include Espanyol Barcelona and FC Granada in the Spanish La Liga. Cordoba also played eleven times for the Colombian U20 team.
“Jhon Cordoba is a center forward with speed, physicality, and a direct line to goal. He has a lot of experience for his age, but we still see him as a player with plenty of potential, said FC general manager Jörg Schmadtke.
Jhon Cordoba states: “1. FC Köln is the right step for me following two great years in Mainz. The representatives of FC were very active in their pursuit of me and I wanted to take the opportunity to play for one of Germany’s great traditional clubs both in the league and in the Europa League. I was already able to experience the wonderful atmosphere of the RheinEnergieSTADION on the 34th Matchday. I am looking forward to lining up there in the home kit.”
Cordoba will receive the number 15 at 1. FC Köln. He will begin training alongside his teammates on Monday.
