A return to Köln

FC sign Mark Uth

The first signing of the January transfer window is complete. Mark Uth has joined on loan from FC Schalke 04 until the end of the season.

1. FC Köln have signed Mark Uth from FC Schalke 04. The attacker completed his move on Friday afternoon and will join on loan until the end of the season. He will wear the number 23. On Saturday, the Köln-born forward will travel with the team into the training camp in Benidorm.

“Mark is a technically strong player, who is strong in front of goal. With his goalscoring qualities, he will help our game,” said head coach, Markus Gisdol.

“I’m really pleased that the move worked out. For me it was important, that I gained match practice in the Rückrunde. Along with that, I can help the club where it all started to stay in the league. That is our main goal,” said Mark Uth.

Mark Uth was born on 24th August 1991 in Köln. He started his young career with TuS Langel before moving to 1. FC Köln’s youth academy. After a short stop in between at Viktoria Köln, he was back at FC between 2010 and 2012 with the Regionalliga side. As a professional, he established himself with Eredivisie club, SC Heerenveen and joined TSG Hoffenheim after notching up 20 goals and 12 assists in the Dutch top tier. After the back of a successful season with Hoffenheim, he made the move to Schalke in the summer of 2018.
