2021-22 schedule

Home game to start

The German Football League (DFL) have published the schedule for the 2021-22 season. 1. FC Köln will begin with a home game, and head to FC Bayern Munich on Matchday 2.

The schedule for the 2021-22 season has been announced. 1. FC Köln will take on Hertha BSC on Matchday 1 at the RheinEnergieSTADION on 14th/15th August. A week later, FC travel to Munich to take on champions, Bayern Munich. On Matchday 3, FC welcome newly promoted VfL Bochum to Köln.

“To start with a home game is always nice – for me, it is the first time in years that I have been able to start the season with a home fixture. I hope that as many fans as possible can come to the stadium in the middle of August. Overall, the fixtures have been well mixed from our point of view. With Hertha BSC and Bayern Munich, we are playing against clubs who have international ambitions. To then play against Bochum, who have been promoted, isn’t an easy fixture either. But we’ll take things as they come and are looking forward to an exciting and successful season,” said FC head coach, Steffen Baumgart.

The home derby against Mönchengladbach takes place on Matchday 13 (26th-28th November). Shortly before Christmas, the only week of the season with three games takes place. FC welcome Augsburg and Stuttgart, sandwiching an away trip to Wolfsburg between on Matchday 15 and 17. The Hinrunde ends on Matchday 17, which takes place on 17th-19th December.

The Winter Break will again be short this season. On 7th-9th January, FC travel to the capital to begin the Rückrunde on Matchday 18 against Hertha BSC. On the Karneval weekend (Matchday 24, 25th-27th February), FC head to SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The final game of the season will be on 14th May 2022 against VfB Stuttgart.
