A talk with Vincent Koziello

“I was very impressed”

Vincent Koziello trained with his new teammates for the first time on Wednesday. He spoke after training about his first day in Cologne, his style of play, and his impression of the FC fans after the derby win.

Vincent Koziello spoke after Wednesday’s training session about…

  • …his transfer from OGC Nice to 1. FC Köln: “FC showed interest in signing me and it all happened rather quickly after that. I had a look at the stadium and attended the match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. I was very impressed. We sat down together on the following day and reached an agreement. I am happy that we were able to clear things up so quickly because I wanted to train with the team as quickly as possible. I was able to do that today so I am very happy.”
  • …his impression of the derby at the RheinEnergieSTADION: “I was part of the euphoria of the stadium after that winning goal in the final seconds. I was very happy, particularly for Simon Terodde. It is a great story that he could return to the club and score the game winning goal in the derby. The entire bench ran onto the field to congratulate him. That was incredible.”
  • …his playing style and personality: “On the pitch I try to give everything I have and support the team any way I can. Off the pitch I am down to earth and a normal person.”
  • …his first interactions with his new team: “First of all, I am very happy because I was received very positively, from the club to my teammates to all of the employees. It makes things much easier. Now I want to integrate into the team as quickly as possible. The sooner the better.”
  • …his decision to join 1. FC Köln: “I am motivated to play and be part of this project. This club has full confidence in me and plans with me in the long term. In addition, it gives me the opportunity to experience a new league in a new country. The Bundesliga is a major competition and FC is currently not where it should be. We will do everything in our power to keep this team in the Bundesliga.”
