1. FC Köln have signed Ismail Jakobs to a long-term contract. The winger, who established himself as a first-team regular in the Bundesliga last season, has signed a contract until 2024.
“With his athletic playing style, Iso has developed into a pillar in our team over the past season. Even though he is just 21 and still a young player, who grows with every game. We’re very pleased that he has decided to continue his path with FC and will support us with his class in order to stay in the Bundesliga,” said FC managing director, Horst Heldt.
“FC is my club. I’m pleased to have made the step up to the first-team here. Those responsible – Horst Heldt, Markus Gisdol and André Pawlak – have played a big part in that and have given me their full trust from the beginning. I want to pay tat back with strong performances on the pitch, to continue working on myself and to help ensure that we reach our goal,” said Ismail Jakobs.
Ismail Jakobs was born on 17th August 1999 in Köln. The versatile winger joined FC in 2012 and made his way through the youth teams at Geißbockheim. In the past season under Markus Gisdol, he established himself as a first-team regular, following his debut against TSG Hoffenheim. For the 21-year-old, 20 Bundesliga appearances (two goals, two assists) are already in the books. He has also come into focus for Germany – during the past international break, Jakobs received an invitation to the under-21s and made his debut against Moldova. He marked that by assisting the opening goal.
