Defender travels to Donaueschingen

Kevin Wimmer to keep fit with FC

1. FC Köln will make their way to the first training camp of pre-season on Monday. With Achim Beierlorzer's side will be a familiar face. Kevin Wimmer will travel to Donaueschingen and will keep fit with FC.

On Monday, the first training camp in Donaueschingen is on the agenda for 1. FC Köln. Achim Beierloryer's men will make their way into the Schwarzwald by train. There will be the familiar face of Kevin Wimmer travelling with the team, as he joins as a training guest to stay fit with his former club.

The centre-back, who was with FC between 2012 and 2015, is currently under contract with Championship side, Stoke City. In the previous season, the Austrian international was on loan at Hannover 96. However, he is no longer part of the first-team squad at Stoke since his return. After discussions with the Potters, the 26-year-old is allowed to maintain his fitness.

"Kevin came to us with the question, as to whether or not he was allowed to train with us. He has always been top while at FC, therefore we're making that happen," said FC managing director, Armin Veh.

"That works well. With Jorge Meré still on holiday, we only have three centre-backs available. With Kevin as the fourth in this position, it makes training a little easier," added FC head coach, Achim Beierlorzer.
