Laux and Höffler extend

Marius Laux and Philipp Höffler have extended their contracts with 1. FC Köln. Höffler steps up from the under-19s to the under-21s, while Laux will stay with the under-21s.

In Marius Laux and Philipp Höffler, FC have secured the services of an under-21 regular and a promising talent from the youth academy. Marius Laux was a pillar of the under-21s last season and was a key part of the run to safety in the second half of the season. He even managed four goals through the campaign. The 33-year-old made 30 appearances last season.

Matthias Heidrich, head of the FC youth academy, said: “Lauxi has absolutely convinced us with his strong performances over the previous season. With his experience on and off the pitch, he is an important player and should lead our young talents in the Regionalliga.”

Marius Laux said, “I’m really pleased to have extended my contract with FC. I’m into my 11th year as a player with this club and the team are a part of my heart. It’s fun to be on the pitch with the boys from the under-21s and to help young talents establish themselves in Regionalliga.”

Young talents such as Philipp Höffler. He is 18-year-old and ended the season with FC’s under-19s in third place, just missing out on a spot in the German championship. They did, however, crown the season with the FVM-Pokal victory a week later.

Heidrich commented, “Philipp should be part of a battle for places on the under-21s’ right hand side. He is a young player who has developed well with us. We’re pleased that he wants to take the last step in his development together with us.”
