Another new face in the squad for next season. Lena Uebach has signed for 1. FC Köln from Turbine Potsdam. She was under-17 European Champion with Germany in 2017 and twice runner-up at under-19 level in 2018 and 2019. The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at FC. Uebach has featured 38 times in the Bundesliga so far, scoring five goals.
Nicole Bender, FC-Frauen Sporting Director, said: “We are pleased that we could convince Lena of the project here. She is young, very talented and has room to develop. At Potsdam, she had no luck when it came to injuries. Meanwhile, she is back on the pitch and will be able to help our team.“
Lena Uebach said: “I am really looking forward to the new and exciting challenge here at FC and I’m more than thankful for the trust shown in me by the club. There is something big building here and I can’t wait to be a part of that.”
Lena Uebach was born on 31st July 2000 in Kirchen. She took her first footballing steps at the age of six with SV Fortuna Freundenberg and played there for 10 years before joining Sportfreunden Siegen. There, Uebach scored 11 goals in 16 games and was snapped up by Bayer Leverkusen in summer 2017. She helped Leverkusen to promotion in the Bundesliga and scored 14 goals in 58 matches. In 2020, she moved to Turbine Potsdam. There, Uebach had to battle against injury issues but returned at the end of last season to play her part in Potsdam’s U20 promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. Uebach has scored six goals in 37 games for the Germany youth sides.
