1. FC Köln will fill the role of Managing Director Marketing and Sales with Markus Rejek, who is currently Managing Director at Arminia Bielefeld. Rejek, who was born in Mülheim an der Ruhr, will be part of the Managing Director trio consisting of Christian Keller, Managing Director Sport, and Philipp Türoff, Commercial Director.

Rejek, who previous to Arminia Bielefeld had worked in leading positions for Borussia Dortmund and 1860 Munich and worked for sport rights marketer Sportfive, informed his club about the transfer in the past few days. The 53-year-old will, at the latest, start work at Geißbockheim on 1st December 2022. Until then, he will support Arminia Bielefeld in finding a successor and working them into the role.

FC President, Dr. Werner Wolf said: “In Markus Rejek, we are bringing in a Director with Bundesliga experience and expertise in the area of Marketing and Sales. We are sure that he will perfectly fit into the team with Christian Keller and Philipp Türoff. We are pleased that we could convince him to join 1. FC Köln.”

Rejek is looking forward to the future with FC and is also aware of his responsibility to his current club: “Whoever knows me knows that I will support Arminia Bielefeld in a professional handover of my role. For me, the move to Köln is to a club with a long Bundesliga history and 116,000 members. It is an exciting challenge and one which I’m really looking forward to.”
