Champions League winner strengthens FC Frauen

Müller-Prießen joins from Paris FC

FC Frauen have signed Marith Müller-Prießen from Division 1 Féminine side Paris FC. The 29-year-old defensive specialist has already won the Champions League in both current and former forms, as well as the DFB-Pokal twice.

For FC Frauen, the next big transfer has come off with the signing of Marith Müller-Prießen. The 29-year-old defender has joined on a free transfer from Paris FC and signed a contract through to 30th June 2022.

In Germany, she has already featured for FCR 2001 Duisburg, Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FFC Frankfurt. With the latter, she won the 2015 Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, starting alongside current FC player, Peggy Nietgen. With Duisburg, Müller-Prießen won the past version of the competition, the UEFA Women’s Cup, as well as the DFB-Pokal in 2009 and 2010. In the previous season, she played at Paris FC where the season was cancelled due to the Coronavirus – at that point, the team were fifth.

She also featured for the German youth teams from under-17 to under-23, with 203 Bundesliga appearances, 24 DFB-Pokal games and 19 Champions League matches to her name. Müller-Prießen is the fifth new signing for FC-Frauen this season.

Head coach, Sascha Glass said: “There is no question that Marith is a player of Bundesliga quality. Therefore, we are proud that we were able to convince her of our concept going forward, to also play for us in 2. Bundesliga. She increases our quality in defence and brings national and continental experience to Köln.”

Marith Müller-Prießen said: “I’m really looking forward to what is a completely new challenge for me. After the French league was cancelled in March, I can hardly wait to get going again after the long Corona break. I want to play my part, so that FC are a Bundesliga club again next year and to play in a league where this traditional club should be in the long-term.”
