Well-known arrival for the Bundesliga

Rachel Rinast returns

Rachel Rinast has signed for 1. FC Köln. It is a return home for the 28-year-old.

Rachel Rinast returns to FC Frauen. The Swiss international already spent time with FC from 2010 to 2012 and between 2013 and 2016. After FC were relegated, she moved to Bayer Leverkusen, FC Basel, SC Freiburg and ASA Tel Aviv before returning back to Köln. “It was unbelievably good fun to play football in Israel. We were champions and cup winners, I got to know a new country and very nice people and while it was almost perfect, something was missing – that was Köln and FC,” said Rinast.

A return home

FC made the most of the opportunity and brought the 28-year-old back to Köln. “If I heard Kösche songs or a picture of the Dom in the past few years, then it would always tug at my heartstrings,” explained Rinast, who was born in Bad Segeberg. “When I first came back to Geißbockheim, it was an indescribable feeling. It was as if I had finally come back home. FC is simply a big family. In my career, I’ve experienced that women’s football can be sometimes put on the backburner. That was never the case at FC and I’m pleased to be back here again.”

Head coach, Willi Breuer: “Rachel has a big heart for FC. She won’t just help us on the pitch, but she’s also a big addition off it. We are pleased that she’s back again.”
