Selina Cerci joins FC

1. FC Köln have landed a transfer coup. Selina Cerci will be part of the FC family come next season. The Germany international, who scored 13 goals in 15 games in the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga last season, has signed a two-year deal.

1. FC Köln have made one of the biggest transfers since the Women’s team was founded. Selina Cerci will join FC next season. Cerci, who made her Germany debut in February this year, is one of the best strikers in the league. At the moment, the 22-year-old is going through rehab after suffering a knee injury in March.

Nicole Bender, FC-Frauen Sporting Director, said: “With Selina, we have signed one of Germany’s best strikers. The fact that she had offers from many top teams both domestically and internationally and still joined FC is a hugely positive sign for women’s football in Köln. We will help her through her rehab as best we can and can’t wait to see Selina make her debut in the FC kit. Before the injury, Selina showed that she is a superb goalscorer and still has room to develop. With the qualities she possesses, we will have a lot of fun with her in the future.”

FC head coach, Sascha Glass said: “We are very pleased with the transfer. I know Selina since she was 15 and I’m over the moon that we will now be able to work together in Köln. Selina has developed brilliantly in the past few years and has become one of the most dangerous players in the Bundesliga. We will support her in the recovery page as best we can and I am sure that she will be a huge signing for us.”

Selina Cerci said: “I can’t wait to get back onto the pitch as soon as possible, so that I can help FC to reach their goals. I’m really looking forward to the exciting challenge to come.”

Selina Cerci was born on 31st May 2000 in Kiel. She took her first footballing steps with SV Friedrichsort, before she moved to Holstein Kiel and then Magdeburger FFC.
