3: 1 win vs. Aue

Terodde scores for the victory

At the end of the game a 3-1 home victory for 1. FC Cologne against FC Erzgebirge Aue. Simon Terodde scored three times for the deserved victory.

After four goals in the German Cup last week, Simon Terodde again was on fire, adding three league goals to his tally. In a game, which 1. FC Koeln dominated the entire ninety minutes, it was 3-1 at the end. The FC celebrates the first home win of the season and claims, at least until Sunday, the top position in the table.

FC head coach Mark Anfang trusted the same starting eleven, who impressed in the 9-1 German Cup win over BFC Dynamo in Berlin last weekend. The first quarter of an hour was largely dominated by actions in midfield. The first big scoring opportunity came to FC, when a cross from Jannes Horn was misjudged by Aue goalkeeper Martin Maennel, who went under the ball, but lurking Louis Schaub behind him was too surprised to head the ball over the line (16’). Simon Terodde should succeed in that ten minutes later. After a precise cross from Jannes Horn, the FC striker headed the ball into the net to change the score to 1-0 (26’). The lead, however, was not meant to last long. Already in the 29th minute, the visitors came to a quick equalizer with a beautiful distant shot from Clemens Fandrich from 25 meters.

FC cannot be deterred

After the surprising goal the FC took immediately back the control of the game. Two more good opportunities, a header from Terodde (31’) and a long-range shot by Marcel Risse (43’) remained unused.

The FC got out of the changing room and back into the second half with the next good opportunity in the 51st minute. The shot from Christian Clemens was blocked just before the goal line by an Aue defender. Substitute Serhou Guirassy narrowly missed the lead in the 61st minute, when his header, after a great cross from Marcel Risse, was just headed narrowly over the crossbar. A little later, the FC was finally rewarded for his dominant performance. After another superb cross from Clemens Simon Terodde was on the spot and nodded for a very deserved 2-1 (69’).

And the FC continued to control possession and the overall domination in the final phase. In the 84th minute, the Hans-Schaefer-South Stand already started for the collective cheer, after Jonas Hector had sunk a ball in goal. The joy, however, only fended off briefly, as referee Marco Fritz had previously seen a foul on Aue goalkeeper Maennel.

However, the FC fans did not have to wait long until they were allowed to celebrate the third goal for FC. And again it was the marvelous Simon Terodde scoring his third of the day, which followed his four-pack in the German cup just last week.
