Training on Monday

Testing out for Mainz

The 1. FC Köln players were back at work on Monday. Peter Stöger used the opportunity to test options ahead of the match against Mainz.

The FC players were back at work on Monday following a free weekend due to the international break. Making his return was Joao Queiros, who was with the Portugal U20 side and picked up a 2-1 win against the Poland U20 team. Also back on the pitch were the trio of Jhon Cordoba, Claudio Pizarro, and Nikolas Nartey. “It is nice that they are back, but we first have to see how the week will go,” said FC head coach Peter Stöger.

Christian Clemens is still under evaluation before making his return, while the injured group of Jonas Hector, Marcel Risse, Dominique Heintz, and Marco Höger will need extra time before making their return. Due the injuries, Stöger was seen in training trying out new variations. “Just by the way things have been going, we want to have alternative solutions. It is always good to have tested things out,” said Stöger.

The FC players will train twice on Tuesday.
