Training and internationals

The day at FC: Terodde watches on

Amongst those who were watching 1. FC Köln’s training on Wednesday was a familiar face. Simon Terodde was back at Geißbockheim and watched on as his team-mates put in the hard work.

“I wanted to get a bit of fresh air,” laughed Simon Terodde. The FC striker was at Geißbockheim on Wednesday and paid a visit to his team-mates as he looked on for almost the entirety of the session. After his case of tonsillitis, the 31-year-old is not yet fully fit. But there is an update, which is that he should be back on the bike on Thursday.

Friendly against Paderborn

The cold is still a topic at FC. Rafael Czichos and Dominick Drexler are still absent and will miss the upcoming friendly against Paderborn. On Thursday, FC face their fellow promotional rivals at 14:00 CET. “When it comes to the result in a friendly, it’s not in my thoughts. I’d rather concentrate on who can get game-time,” said Markus Anfang about the upcoming game. “But obviously we want to win. There are no friendly games.” In the friendly, the FC head coach wants to give game time to those players who haven’t had too many minutes of late. “Everyone should call upon what we’ve been working on in training, but now from a competitive standpoint. We can only do so much in training. In a friendly, you can make a case for yourself.”

FC players in international action

During the day, which was over in the morning for the players at Geißbockheim, a few players were waiting for their games to start. FC youngsters, Nikolas Nartey and Noah Katterbach were preparing for games of their own, while Tomas Ostrak missed the Czech Republic’s game against England.

Nikolas Nartey will take on Greece with the Danish under-19 side. He’ll also face Tomas Ostrak over the coming week as the Czech team joins England as the four nations battle it out for a spot at the finals. For Noah Katterbach, he is part of the Germany under-18 side that take on France.
