Starting the week at Geißbockheim

The day at FC: Training with Höger and Koziello

On Monday afternoon, FC went through their first training session after the win against FC St. Pauli. Marco Höger and Vincent Koziello trained with the team as they overcame their long-standing injury problems.

After the 4:1 home win against FC St. Pauli, the team were able to enjoy a free weekend before coming back to training on Monday. At the beginning of the session, the 1. FC Köln players went through a short warm up before the focus lay on possession. At the end, the coaching team watched over as the players went through a training match.

There was good news in regards to the fitness of several players. Marco Höger, who was out with a knee ligament problem, and Vincent Koziello (knee ligament) returned to team training. After his cold, Jannes Horn also played a part and Louis Schaub completed an individual running programme in the afternoon.

Markus Anfang spoke after training about…

…the injured players: “With Marco Höger and Vincent Koziello, today we saw that we could let them run. We want that the pair built up through the training process step by step. Vincent says that it’s okay so far, Marco has a little something now and again. With Louis, there’s still a controlled observation but he’s coming on well, even though he can’t train with the team. For that, there’s no time frame. You’ve got to watch and wait to see what happens, when the loading steps up.”

…the preparation for Paderborn: “This week, we’ll work a little on counters. Of course, it’s better when you have control but if you lose the ball, then you’ve got to be able to work against that. It’s also just as important that you can force a counter after winning the ball back.”

…the striker situation: “Since I started here, those on the outside told me that I could forget about Jhon Cordoba. Then he played the first two games and I was criticised, because he played ahead of Simon Terodde. And now we have two such strikers. We didn’t have this situation from the start, that’s developed.”
