Tournament in Aachen

The HappyBet Cup 2016

High level competition – 1. FC Köln will take part in a one-day tournament in Aachen. Two international teams will be in presence as well.

1. FC Köln have secured the next major event for summer 2016. On Sunday, July 24th, Peter Stöger’s team will take part in a one-day tournament at the Tivoli stadium in Aachen. The other participants of the HappyBet Cup 2016 are German side Alemannia Aachen, Spanish side Malaga CF, and French side Olympique de Marseille. The tournament will begin at 14:00 with two semi-final matches, followed by a match for third place and then the final at 17:00. All matches will be played with a duration of 45 minutes. The ties will be determined in the following weeks. The tournament was developed with the support of LaLiga and the Match IQ football agency.

For FC it provides the opportunity to measure up against international teams in between the already scheduled test matches against Bielefeld (July 23rd) and Fortuna Köln (July 26th). Marseille is a nine-time champion of the French league and the only French side to win the UEFA Champions League. Malaga ended the 2015/16 season on eighth in the league – just one spot behind UEFA Europa League winners FC Sevilla. For the upcoming season Juande Ramos will take over the reigns as coach after stints with Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid. For FC players Matthias Lehmann and Marco Höger as well as General Manager Jörg Schmadtke, it is a return to their old stomping grounds in Aachen.

Tickets for the day will vary from 10 to 25 EUR. Further details regarding ticket sales will follow. For the complete summer plan, click here.
