Matchday 2

The Number Crunch: Away against Arminia

It is a trip to Bielefeld and the SchücoArena for 1. FC Köln on Saturday afternoon. Markus Gisdol’s men are hoping to build on the performance against Hoffenheim, as Arminia aim to continue their remarkable run in 2020. Here are 10 facts to get you in the mood for the match.

Sebastian Andersson marked his FC debut with a goal and an assist. The Swedish striker also won the most headed duels on the Bundesliga’s opening weekend (11), four ahead of FC team-mate Rafael Czichos.

Ondrej Duda attempted the second most dribbles at the weekend in the Bundesliga (5). The FC midfielder was particularly impressive on his Bundesliga debut, completing three of those five dribbles and almost grabbed his first goal.

Super Swedish striker

Tolu Arokodare will be the fifth Nigerian player to play for FC, should he feature at the weekend against Arminia Bielefeld. The forward, who scored 15 goals in 16 games before his arrival, is also the tallest player in the FC team at 1.97m.

New signing Dimitris Limnios is a double-winner in Greece with PAOK FC. In the 2018-19 season, PAOK won their first league title for 34 years and became just the second team in Greek Super League history to go the entire season unbeaten.

Cebio Soukou became the first Arminia Bielefeld player to score in the Bundesliga since Artur Wichniarek. The former Erzgebirge Aue winger scored the opening goal in the game against Frankfurt.

Marcel Hartel will face his former club at the weekend and comes into the game after having covered the most distance on the opening matchday. The Köln-born midfielder ran 13,4km against Frankfurt on Matchday 1.

Arminia in form

Arminia Bielefeld have won the last three home games in the Bundesliga against FC. The last top-flight meeting between the two sides at the SchücoArena came back in September 2008, as Jonas Kamper and Artur Wichniarek grabbed the goals in a 2:0 win.

The Ostwestfalen outfit are playing their first Bundesliga home game for 4145 days. Their last home fixture came against Hannover 96, with the sides playing out a 2:2 draw on 23rd May 2009.
