Timo Hübers joins FC

Timo Hübers has joined 1. FC Köln on a free transfer from Hannover 96.

1. FC Köln have signed Timo Hübers. The 24-year-old centre-back joins on a free transfer from Hannover 96 and has signed a contract until 2023.

“Timo’s footballing qualities as a centre-back are well-known. What stands out with him, is his mentality and his desire to keep on developing,” said Jörg Jakobs.

The 1.90m tall defender made 20 appearances in 2. Bundesliga for Hannover 96, scoring two goals in the process. It is with Hannover where Hübers has earned his footballing stripes, apart from the 2015-16 season. That year, he spent a season with 1. FC Köln. Hübers featured 21 times for FC in the Regionalliga West.

“The overall package was just right for me. I can play in the Bundesliga again, and with such a special club. The return to FC brings everything full circle. In my year here with the reserves, I was always in the stadium and watched on wanting to one day be on the pitch myself. The fact that is now the case, is amazing. I obviously hope that I can experience a full house again soon,” said Timo Hübers.
