Match Preview: Eintracht Frankfurt

To Frankfurt with confidence

1. FC Köln will look to bounce back from their defeat against Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s away fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt will enter Matchday 22 as the sixth best team in the Bundesliga. Following a strong start to the second half of the season, Frankfurt lost their previous Bundesliga match against FC Augsburg with a score of 0-3. However, nobody is pushing the panic button in Frankfurt just yet. A 3-0 midweek win against 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the DFB-Pokal has Eintracht back on the right path.

What the coaches have to say

Stefan Ruthenbeck (1. FC Köln): “We are going up against a strong opponent, who are defensively well-organized. It is going to be a real challenge.”

Niko Kovac (Eintracht Frankfurt): “The coaching change in Cologne brought with it a spirit of optimism. They have the quality to be in the top half of the league. The team that we will face on Saturday is no longer the team we saw in the first fixture this season.”

The overall record in the Bundesliga is slightly in favor of 1. FC Köln: 31 wins, 29 defeats, 25 draws. FC have won 12 of the 42 matches played in Frankfurt and have scored an astonishing 61 goals in the process. However, Frankfurt have won their last three home matches against FC.
