Yuya Osako has extended his contract with 1. FC Köln for an additional three years. The new deal will keep the 26-year-old forward at FC until 30 June 2020. The deal was finalized just ahead of the upcoming match against Hertha BSC on Saturday.
Osako joined FC in the summer of 2014 and has since appeared in 60 Bundesliga matches (6 goals). In the current Bundesliga campaign the Japanese forward has scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists. He also scored twice in the 7-0 win against BFC Preussen in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. For the Japanese national team Osako has featured on 15 occasions (3 goals).
“We are playing successful football and I have found my place in the team. Those are the fundamental sporting reasons for my contract extension,” said Yuya Osako. “FC is a big club in Germany that is also followed in Japan with great interest. My family is also enjoying life here so I am happy to know that we are staying.”

Yuya Osako joined 1. FC Köln in the summer of 2014 by way of TSV 1860 Munich, where he scored 6 goals in 15 matches. Prior to that he played for the Kashima Antlers of the J-League.
