1. FC Köln and its kit supplier adidas are releasing the 2026/27 away jersey as a tribute to a beloved jersey design that connects generations of players and fans. The red jersey with white pinstripes, the embroidered Trefoil on the right and the FC retro logo on the left chest, made its debut nearly 50 years ago.

When the global brand from Herzogenaurach first outfitted the FC, World and European champion Bernd Cullmann wore it during the 1979–1980 season—a cherished memory for many older-generation FC fans of a time when the FC was among the top teams in the Bundesliga. His son, Carsten Cullmann, played in a reissue of the jersey design in the mid-2000s during the second adidas era. It was worn for two consecutive seasons and has secured its place in jersey history among younger FC fans as the away jersey from the 2007–2008 promotion season under then-coach Christoph Daum.
