1. FC Köln have loaned out Youssoupha Niang. The 20-year-old forward will join FC St. Pauli in the 2. Bundesliga for the upcoming season.
„Youss showed in pre-season that he has made a big step forward in his development. At the same time, the view to regular Bundesliga football is currently limited. In FC St. Pauli, we have found a club that offers a very good environment where he can take on new challenges at a high level. We are convinced that this is the right next step in Youss‘ development. We will continue to follow his journey closely and wish him and FC St. Pauli a successful season,“ said FC Managing Director, Thomas Kessler.
“At the end of pre-season, I had a very open and good discussion with René about my current role at FC. This honesty was important and I was glad because I want to keep on developing and I need to play to do that. For that reason, I’m very pleased that FC helped me to find a cool club in St. Pauli, who are giving me the chance to play in the 2. Bundesliga and further my development,” said Youssoupha Niang.
Youssoupha Niang made the move from Bonner SC to 1. FC Köln in 2019. In summer 2025, the forward went through pre-season with the first-team for the first time. Due to injury, he was forced to the sidelines before he made his debut in a 2:2 draw with Heidenheim in January 2026. He made 10 appearances last season.
