After four years at 1. FC Köln, Denis Huseinbašić has left the club. FC and Primeira Liga side, SC Braga have agreed on a permanent transfer for the 24-year-old midfielder.
FC Managing Director, Thomas Kessler said: "Deni didn't play as much as he would have liked in the past season and came to us with the desire to move clubs. We were able to agree to terms with SC Braga and grant his wish. We thank Deni for four years at 1. FC Köln and wish him the best for the future, on and off the pitch."
"It was four exciting years for me, which I am incredibly thankful for," said Denis Huseinbašić. "Back then, FC gave me the chance and the trust to take my first steps in professional football. The fans supported me and the team in difficult phases. I want to thank all the FC fans for that."
Denis Huseinbašić joined 1. FC Köln in summer 2022 from Regionalliga side, Kickers Offenbach. He adapted straight away and made 24 Bundesliga appearances in his first season, scoring four goals. After his period at the club, he can look back on 108 games including European football, as well as gaining immediate promotion back to the Bundesliga in 2025. After securing Bundesliga football for next season, the seven-time Bosnia and Herzegovina international will now head to Portugal.
