1. FC Köln have signed goalkeeper, Martin James. The 18-year-old Frenchman has joined from Paris Saint-Germain and has signed a contract until 30th June 2029.
“Martin is a very exciting goalkeeping talent with a lot of potential to develop. He has enjoyed a great footballing education at a fantastic club, is a youth international for France and has what is required to take the next steps in his development with us. He will be a part of our first-team. At the same time, the plan is for him to get game time with our under-21s in order to continue his development at a high level,” said FC Managing Director, Thomas Kessler.
Martin James said: “For me, it’s a big chance to join FC. I have already heard a lot about FC, including with how positively crazy the fans are, especially at the home games in the stadium. They always stand behind the club, and the club has shown me a path that I want to go on with this incredible support.”
Martin James was born on 14th February 2008 in Versailles, France. The goalkeeper started his footballing journey with AO Buc Football. He then joined FC Versailles and AS Meudon, before joining PSG’s academy in 2022. There, James has been training with the first-team since summer 2025. He was part of Luis Enrique’s squad on seven occasions. He has featured 27 times for the PSG under-19s, including nine UEFA Youth League appearances.
