Jacob Christensen leaves FC

9/1/2025

Jacob Christensen has left 1. FC Köln. The defensive midfielder has joined Molde FK in Norway.

“We and Jacob Christensen had imagined the time at FC going differently. He came to us with big ambitions, but two long-term injuries put back those plans. Despite his exemplary work in rehab, he started the season behind the rest and that is difficult to claw back without regular game time. This is an opportunity that we can’t give to Jacob at the moment and spoke to him open and honestly about that. We are therefore really pleased that he has now got the chance to do so at a club where he can build back to his best level. We wish Jacob the very best and thank him for his efforts at FC,” said Sporting Director, Thomas Kessler.

“I had obviously hoped that my time at FC would have gone differently. I came here with the goal of playing. Unfortunately, the long-term injury last summer caused problems. Despite that, I was always happy here. Now I’m returning to Scandinavia, where I want to get back on the pitch. I want to thank FC and my team-mates and wish them all the best for the season,” said Jacob Christensen.

Jacob Christensen joined 1. FC Köln in 2023 from FC Nordsjælland. The Dane played seven Bundesliga games in his first season, before suffering a serious knee injury in pre-season and missing the entire previous campaign.
