Meiko Wäschenbach leaves FC

1/30/2025

Meiko Wäschenbach has left 1. FC Köln and joined Karlsruher SC. The 21-year-old signed his contract with the 2. Bundesliga club on Thursday afternoon.

“Meiko came to us with the desire to leave the club and take on a new challenge. After detailed discussions and an evaluation of his sporting perspective, we came to the realization that he wouldn’t have the chance to establish himself in the first-team squad. Therefore, we agreed to his wish. We thank Meiko for his time at 1. FC Köln and wish him the best for the future,” said Thomas Kessler, Director of Football.

“FC will always be something special for me. The club, the city and the people all have a place in my heart. The DFB-Pokal win and the semi-finals of the German Championship are moments I won’t forget and I’m extremely thankful for that. Now it is time to take the next step in my development. I wish FC all the best and look forward to seeing everyone soon,” said Meiko Wäschenbach.

Meiko Wäschenbach arrived at 1. FC Köln from FC Hennef in 2019. The midfielder helped FC to win the U19 German Cup in 2023 and featured 10 times in the Regionalliga West this season.
