Rasmus Carstensen has left 1. FC Köln and joined Aarhus GF on a permanent basis. The right-back was loaned out to the Danish Superliga side and won the league title there. Both clubs have now agreed on a permanent transfer for the 25-year-old.
FC Managing Director, Thomas Kessler said: “Rasmus’ loan worked perfectly. He was able to establish himself as a first-team regular in Denmark and ended the season as Danish champion. That’s why it is understandable for us that Rasmus wants to continue his career in his homeland. We are very pleased that we have been able to find a fair agreement with Aarhus for a transfer. We thank him for his efforts at FC and wish him the very best for his future.”
Rasmus Carstensen said: “I was able to make a dream come true in Köln, playing in one of Europe’s top leagues. I am thankful to FC for this opportunity and experience. Now I have decided that I want to return home and to continue playing for Aarhus. I will continue to follow FC from afar.”
Carstensen joined FC on loan back in summer 2023 from KRC Genk before making the move permanent. After 28 appearances for FC, he made the loan move to Lech Poznan in January 2025, becoming a key player in their league title win. In the past summer he was loaned out to Aarhus, where he will now continue his career.
