The 1. FC Köln Football School opened in 2013 and gives children the opportunity to train next to the FC professionals at a young age. It is designed to develop the youth as complete footballers and students. 

Coaches and concepts 

The 1. FC Köln Football School Heinz Flohe is open for all football crazy kids and young people, whether boy or girl, whether beginner or in a team. Under professional conditions and under the guidance of licenced and experienced youth coaches, the youngsters will play alongside the RheinEnergieSTADION. Fun and passion are what it's all about at the Football School. Along with the focus on football qualities, like dribbling, passing and shooting, the kids will be able to show their skills in small-sided games and tournaments. 

Heinz Flohe 

Heinz Flohe is one of the most storied names in FC history. The former midfielder, double-winning captain, playmaker and German international combined footballing class and passion like no other. 

Heinz Flohe wrote history as FC’s double-winning captain in 1978. The “super technician”, as he was coined by the press, was with FC for 13 years from 1966 onwards and blossomed under Hennes Weisweiler. “Flocke” passed away at the age of just 65 due to serious heart problems and after a three-year coma. A bronze statue has stood behind the Südkurve since October 2014 in memory of the late, great Flohe. After his playing career, he was assistant coach of the amateurs and first-team under head coach and friend, Stephan Engels.
