1. FC Köln and Kristoffer Lund are going their separate ways. The 24-year-old left-back was loaned out from Serie B side, Palermo FC in the past season. The two teams agreed on an option to buy, but FC have opted against making use of it.
“From day one, Kristoffer put the team above himself and, with his character and his performances, played an important part in reaching our goals last season,” said FC Managing Director, Thomas Kessler. “He was an important factor for our group, on and off the pitch and earned the respect of the team. We want to thank him for that. We have decided not to make use of the option to buy and wish Kristoffer all the best for the future.”
Lund made 33 appearances in his first Bundesliga season, making 26 starts and contributing two assists. “I want to thank 1. FC Köln for everything,” said Kristoffer Lund. “It was fantastic to be a part of FC and I am proud that I could help the club to play another year of Bundesliga football.”
