1. FC Köln have extended the contract of goalkeeper, Matthias Köbbing. The 28-year-old will now enter his sixth season at FC and has signed a contract until 30th June 2027.
FC Sporting Director, Thomas Kessler said: “Matthias is a very valuable member of our team and fully embodies the values of 1. FC Köln – on and off the pitch. Through his professionality and his consistent performance in training, he is an important factor for stability in our group. We are very happy to continue our path together.”
Matthias Köbbing said: “FC has become my home – sporting and privately. I will give everything to help the club and the team in the future. I am looking forward to the new season.”
The Koblenz-born goalkeeper went through the youth academies at 1. FSV Mainz 05 and TSG Hoffenheim before joining 1. FC Heidenheim and then FC 08 Homburg. Köbbing moved to 1. FC Köln in Summer 2020. Since then, even though he has not yet featured for the first-team, been a reliable and important part of the team and goalkeeping setup.
