A season to remember. Said El Mala joined 1. FC Köln in the summer from 3. Liga side Viktoria Köln. The courageous youngster didn’t let anything faze him and he turned in special performances week in, week out. The numbers speak for themselves in his first Bundesliga season. He featured in every game, scoring 13 goals and setting up a further five.
It is no huge surprise that he was voted as Player of the Season by the FC fans. The 19-year-old won 44% of the vote, finishing ahead of Marvin Schwäbe (29%), Jakub Kamiński (21%) and Ragnar Ache (5%).
